Reading Buddies and Birthday Books
Members of the Auxiliary read with children who need extra help once a week. Each child is allowed to choose a new book for his or her birthday.
We provide each child with several personalized items, including a duffel bag to hold their belongings, a pillowcase, and a backpack filled with presents for their birthday.
We sponsor parties for the children at Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, and Halloween. We do a Luau in August and bring Ice Cream trucks to the Village in the summer.
We host special events for the children throughout the year. One of the most popular is a petting zoo with exotic animals.
Children chosen by members of their group homes participate in outings once a month. Children chose pumpkins for Halloween at Millers Farm and played mini-golf.
We provide special programs for children of different ages. Re-enactors spoke to middle-school aged children about the Civil War.
